Switzerland x Reader - Stand In The Rain

The rain was pouring down all around you, but you didn't care. You just stared off into the distance, not making any noise. You stood there letting your own tears join the raindrops that covered your face.

You don't know how long you had been there, in the park, in the middle of the night. A few minutes? An hour? A couples of hours? You didn't care. Staring at nothing, you thought of all the things that have been going wrong around you. As your mind thought of every bad thing that happened, every past mistake, every hardship, you kept crying.

You had gone to the park to avoid crying like this in front of your friends or family. You couldn't cry in front of them, you just couldn't. Yet as you stood there, avoiding being seen, you silently wished for someone, anyone, to find you.

"Hey, you know it's raining right?" A voice called from behind you. You turned quickly to see a blond man standing there with a dark green umbrella. He was looking at you with his mint-green eyes like you were crazy. He seemed somewhat guarded, like he thought you might try to attack him, but his mood changed when he saw your face.

"Wha-Your eyes are all red! Have you been crying out here, all alone?" He had a bit of an accent, like German but not quite. Swiss maybe?

He walked over to you, holding the large umbrella over both of you. You couldn't find any words, you were somewhere between being too shocked to speak and being too numb.

He reached into his pocket and pulled out a nice looking handkerchief, and that was when you noticed the gun in his pocket. You gasped and backed away from him. "No, wait! It's okay, I'm not going to shoot you. I carry that to protect myself and my sister, I wouldn't shoot someone randomly!"

You paused, unsure of whether to trust this stranger. He walked closer to you again so that the umbrella was covering you again and he took the handkerchief and began wiping your face off. This time you knew that you were too stunned to speak.

"It's not very dignified to stand around soaking wet." He saw your look of shock and confusion and he blushed a bright red. "Sorry, I'm just used to helping my little sister. I didn't mean to be so-"

"No, thank you." You finally found your voice. "Thank you for...for finding me..." Your voice cracked and you let out an involuntary sob.

"Hey, It's okay. What's wrong? Are you lost?" He asked, putting a hand on your shoulder to steady you as you sobbed. He seemed genuinely concerned. You shook your head. "No, I'm not lost...I...I just-" You broke off again.

He frowned and looked around. "You should really get out of this rain. You're alone right? And I'm assuming that in your state, you don't want to go home..." He trailed off. You nodded. "Well I live not far from here with my little sister. I know we just met but I can't leave you here like this. Will you come with me?"

You looked at him, this stranger asked you to go to his house with him. You knew that was a bad idea, but for some reason you trusted this man. "Okay." You responded after a moment.

He seemed like he was relieved. He turned and pointed off to the south. "My house is in that direction." He stated and began to walk. "Oh, and my name is Vash. Vash Zwingli."

You followed after him, staying under the umbrella. "My name is _______." He just nodded and the two of you walked in silence.

After a short time you arrived at a large, fancy looking house. You look around as he led you past the gate and through the door. The inside was just as fancy as the outside. You couldn't help but gawk a little.

"Big brudder? You're home late." A small blonde girl called from the stairs. She had the same haircut as Vash but she had a purple bow in her hair. Her expression changed to being shocked when she saw you. "Oh! Who is this? Why is she all wet?"

"This is _____. I found her in the park, all by her self." Vash spoke while he took off his shoes. You took yours off as well. "Lili will you bring her a change of clothes?"

The girl, Lili, nodded and hurriedly went back upstairs. You noticed that she was not much smaller than you, maybe a year or two younger that you are. Looking back to Vash, you thanked him, feeling somewhat awkward in this huge house.

He just nodded. Lili had brought back a change of clothes and led you to a room so you could change. The clothes fit pretty well and you felt a bit better in dry clothes. You walked out of the room and found Vash and Lili in a room that looked like a living room, though it was much bigger and grand than yours was.

Vash seemed to be telling Lili about what had happened. He looked over to you when you walked in, nodding in approval of your dry clothes and motioning for you to sit. You did so.

Lili looked at you with sad eyes. Honestly you couldn't deny that this girl was very cute. She seemed to want to say something but seemed conflicted. "What's wrong Lili?" You asked. She got up suddenly and hugged you tightly. You were shocked at first but you relaxed and hugged her back, whispering a thank you to her.

Vash cleared his throat and Lili moved back away from you again. "Lili, would you give ______ and I some time to talk?" Lili nodded and smiled at you once before she made her leave.

After she left Vash looked hard at you. "_____, will you tell me why you were out there, standing in the rain, crying, in the middle of the night?" You didn't know why, but again this sense of trust came over you. You nodded, took a deep breath, and began telling Vash what was wrong.

You told him about all of your fears, about all the pain you had been going through, about all the things you wouldn't share with anyone else. You told him about that too, that you couldn't tell anyone else.

After you finished you stared at the floor. You had never just emptied all of your thoughts and feelings to anyone before. But here you were, letting loose all your emotions you had bottled up to a complete stranger.

You heard a sound of movement from where Vash was sitting but you didn't look up. You were embarrassed, you didn't want to look him in the eye. Then, suddenly there were arms around you. You felt Vash pulling you into a close, tight hug.

You hugged him back and let more tears fall. Tears of your sadness were mixed with tears of happiness. You had never felt so happy before, having told all of your feelings and to be comforted like this.

The hug lasted until you had stopped crying. He pulled back and looked away slightly, a bright red blush covering his face. You giggled a bit at the sight.

"______," Vash spoke. "if you would like, you are welcome to come back here any time you feel the need to talk. Or if you just want to get away."

"Vash...Thank you so much! Thank you for everything!" You hugged him again. You heard a little giggle from the doorway that made both of you jump back like you were caught doing something improper. Now you were both blushing fiercely.

Lili was standing in the doorway, smiling at the two of you. "Big brudder can really be sweet sometimes, can't he?" Lili giggled again.

"Lili-" Vash began but he was cut off. "Big brudder can she spend the night tonight?" Lili asked, innocently.

Vash looked at you, like he was leaving it up to you. You smiled and looked at the small girl. "That sounds like fun."

"Alright, she can stay. But she should call her family first." Vash stated, trying to sound neutral. You nodded and pulled out your cell phone, dialing your home number.

"Hey, yeah it's me. I'm okay, I was outside and I ran into one of my friends. Lili, she goes to me school..." You winked at her and continued your conversation. "We were hoping I could spend the night here tonight. Yeah, I'm really fine, so can I stay? Thanks! Love you too, goodbye." You hung up and smiled at Lili. She walked over to you and hugged you again.

You had never felt so good before. It was like you finally found where you belonged. You were found, standing in the rain. You were found, when you felt totally lost. You would never have to stand alone in the rain again.
